Recommendations

What Are They?
Recommendations allow people the opportunity to read stories that may not quite have made the cut (time wise) for the previous quarter, or stories that could possibly be nominated in future quarters. Recommendations are usually submitted during the times when the Guild is not nominating, seconding or voting. Most of the works that are recommended should be eligible for nominations the following quarter, but that is not a requirement. Because of this, some stories may be on the recommendation list, but not be eligible for nomination.

Stories that have placed more than two times in any category should not be recommended. The primary reason to have the recommendations list is to alert members of new stories eligible for the upcoming nomination period.

Even though recommended stories are not currently up for nominations, they are expected to be held to Guild standards; the purpose of the IYFG is to award quality fanfiction. Grammar, characterization, and other such mechanics of writing should be in mind when you recommend something. If such problems in a story become overbearing, it is not a good candidate for the list.

How Do I Recommend a Story?
First, you need to be a member. Then make sure the Guild is in a recommendation period. Finally, you need a fic to recommend.

When recommending a story, please use the following format. The information listed is used to properly sort the recommendations, and to allow members a better knowledge of the recommended material. Recommendations will be grouped on the site by pairing. If you do not specify the pairing, it will be placed into the Miscellaneous section. Also note: alternate links can be provided if you know them, but are not necessary.

As with nominations, a CYA statement stating you are over seventeen years of age is required for any NC-17/ X rated stories.

Please use this format:

Title:
Author:
Rating:
Type:
Pairing(s):
Status: [Work In Progress, Complete, One-shot, or Short-Short]
Summary:
URL:

Please try to fill out the form in the entirety. If there is something you are unsure about after taking a good look around, then feel free to forgo the section. However, keep in mind they are used to assist readers who may prefer one type of story over another. No one wants to be ambushed by a Jaken/Kaede romance when they were looking for an Inuyasha/Kagome darkfic/horror!

What are those Gold Stars?
The stars are a special notation on the recommendation list that highlight the work of authors new to the IYFG. They can’t have ever been nominated for an award in the guild. The stories and authors don’t have to be completely new to fanfiction; they could have been writing for a long time. They just have to be completely new to the IYFG.
